The Congress party has accused the Modi government of abandoning the Palestinians ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Israel on February 25. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized the government for making hypocritical statements about supporting Palestinians while Israel continues attacks on Gaza civilians and displaces Palestinians in the West Bank. Ramesh also highlighted concerns over Modi's close ties with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who faces corruption allegations, and noted opposition threats in Israel to boycott Modi's parliamentary address over judicial independence issues. Modi's visit has also sparked domestic political debate in India regarding protocol for the Supreme Court chief's invitation.
