Haryana Refuses Sanction to Prosecute Ashoka Professor Mahmudabad; Supreme Court Closes Case

The Haryana government informed the Supreme Court that it has refused to grant sanction to prosecute Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad over his social media posts on Operation Sindoor, describing the decision as a "one-time magnanimity." Following this, the Supreme Court ordered the closure of pending proceedings against him. Mahmudabad was arrested in May 2025 after two FIRs alleged his posts endangered national sovereignty and insulted women officers. The court cautioned him to act prudently in the future.
