Haryana Refuses to Prosecute Ashoka Professor Mahmudabad; Supreme Court Closes Case

The Haryana government informed the Supreme Court that it will not grant sanction to prosecute Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad over his social media posts on Operation Sindoor, describing the decision as a "one-time magnanimity." Following this, the Supreme Court closed the criminal proceedings against him, cautioning the professor to act prudently in the future. Mahmudabad was arrested in May 2025 after FIRs alleged his posts endangered national integrity, but several parties had condemned his arrest.
