Election Hearing Centers Shifted to Villages After Villager Protests in East Burdwan

Following protests by villagers in East Burdwan's Katwa sub-division, the district electoral officer has agreed to shift hearing centers for the SIR process to Ganguly Danga village. Initially, all 1,100 voters received summons for hearings 10 km away, causing concern, especially for elderly residents and migrant laborers whose names are on the 2002 voters' list. Similar protests occurred in Naragohalia village, where hundreds were summoned to an office 30 km away. The electoral office will now arrange hearing centers within the villages.
