The Indian Army plans to order 300 indigenous Dhanush Howitzers to form 15 new regiments, marking its second major procurement of these 155 mm 45-calibre artillery guns. Manufactured by public sector companies using technology transferred from the 1980s Bofors guns, the Dhanush has already seen partial induction with 114 guns across four regiments. The Defence Ministry is expected to approve the order soon. The howitzers, tested in 2018, can fire 155mm ammunition and support a bi-modular charge system to extend range.
