DMK Urges Tamil Nadu Government to Reject Hydrocarbon Wells Proposal in Cuddalore
The DMK, led by former Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu, has urged the Tamil Nadu government to deny permission for four proposed hydrocarbon exploration wells near Parangipettai in Cuddalore district. Citing environmental and livelihood concerns, the party referenced its previous stance against hydrocarbon projects to protect agriculture and marine ecosystems. The project, driven by Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Limited and Indian Oil Corporation, is currently under review by the Tamil Nadu Coastal Zone Management Authority amid opposition from fishermen and environmentalists.
