Election Commission Reviews Tamil Nadu Poll Preparations, Parties Request Single-Phase Voting

Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI), led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, held meetings with national and state political parties to review poll preparedness. Most parties appreciated the peaceful Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and requested single-phase polling, stricter measures against money power and freebies, and consideration of festival dates in scheduling. The ECI assured free, fair, and transparent elections with enhanced enforcement, improved voter facilities, and procedural updates like mandatory VVPAT counting and earlier postal ballot counting.
