India has approved the 260-megawatt Dulhasti Stage-II hydropower project on the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir. This development follows recent approval for the 1,856-megawatt Sawalkot project on the same river. These projects aim to maximize India's utilization of the Chenab River's hydropower potential, which is largely untapped. The move intensifies concerns in Pakistan, particularly after recent actions related to the Indus Waters Treaty, with analysts suggesting these projects will further escalate challenges for Islamabad.
