Amit Shah Highlights Antimicrobial Resistance Threat, Calls for Combat Roadmap

Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted antimicrobial resistance (AMR) as a significant threat to humanity, describing it as a 'silent disaster' during the foundation stone ceremony of the BSL-4 Biocontainment Facility at Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive roadmap, increased medicine literacy, research, and public awareness to combat AMR. Shah identified misuse of antibiotics and incomplete treatments as key causes and stressed protecting antibiotics for future generations while noting the growth of India's biotechnology sector.
