The West Bengal government has requested the Election Commission (EC) to withdraw its directive to file FIRs against four officials linked to the alleged inclusion of fictitious voters in electoral rolls of Baruipur East and Moyna constituencies. The state argues that departmental actions, including suspensions, have been taken and that criminal prosecution is disproportionate. The state's Advocate General also advised against FIRs, while the EC has issued repeated directives to lodge the FIRs, which remain unfiled amid ongoing administrative conflict.
