The Malnad Area Development Board (MADB) is seeking a loan from NABARD, with the State government as guarantor, to fund infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity in the Malnad region. The proposed works include constructing approximately 300 footbridges and hanging bridges to address difficulties faced by rural residents during the rainy season, particularly in Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu districts. The project, estimated to cost over ₹200 crore, also aims to boost regional tourism.
