AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami accused the DMK government of closing 210 government schools over the past four-and-a-half years. He contrasted this with the previous AIADMK administration's record of opening 248 primary schools and upgrading numerous others. Palaniswami also alleged issues in higher education, citing a lack of principals in arts and science colleges and restrictions on hiring teachers in minority and government-aided institutions. He further claimed the DMK has failed to fulfill a significant portion of its electoral promises.
