The BJP and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) will contest the PCMC polls separately after alliance talks failed just hours before the nomination deadline. Shiv Sena's Maval MP Shrirang Barne stated that while his party was keen on an alliance, the BJP cited overwhelming demand from their own aspirants. This marks a departure from previous attempts to form a united front for the local elections.
