Finance Minister Calls for Fair Burden-Sharing on Global Economic Imbalances
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, speaking at the Global Convergence for Growth Summit chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, emphasized that developing countries should not bear a disproportionate burden in addressing global economic imbalances. Representing the Global South, she highlighted that India and similar economies are largely peripheral to these imbalances but face their spillover effects. Sitharaman called for coordinated global action and stronger multilateral cooperation to build resilient economies, promote sustainable development, and ensure inclusive growth amid rising geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty.
