Bangladesh's Editors Council has accused a segment of the interim government of permitting post-election violence following the death of Inqilab Mancha leader Sharif Osman Hadi. Hadi died on December 18 after being shot on December 12. The same evening, mobs attacked media offices, including Daily Star and Prothom Alo, and cultural groups. Editors Council President Nurul Kabir stated that announcements preceded the attacks, and the government's inaction allowed the violence, calling such announcements a criminal offense.
