DNT Leaders Seek Distinct Enumeration and Rights Recognition in 2027 Census

Leaders of Denotified, Nomadic, and Semi-nomadic Tribes (DNT) in India have petitioned the Supreme Court to ensure distinct enumeration of their communities in the 2027 Census, citing historical exclusion and its impact on access to government benefits. Concurrently, representatives from 22 states formed the Denotified and Nomadic Tribes Federation of India to unify efforts for recognition, seeking a separate census column, reservations, land rights, and development funding to address their socio-economic challenges.
