Karnataka's Cabinet has decided to proceed with recruitment under the existing 50% reservation cap for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), following an interim stay by the Karnataka High Court on a 2022 Act that increased reservation to 56%. The government plans to fill over 56,000 vacancies using the previous reservation roster. Minister H K Patil stated the state continues to contest the court stay and aims to implement the increased quota if permitted, including internal reservation within the 50% limit for now.
