The Maharashtra Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with three Finnish companies—Helvar, Mirasis, and River Recycle—to modernise Sassoon Dock, a key fishing harbour with around 1,560 mechanised boats and annual fish production of 50,000 to 60,000 metric tonnes. The project focuses on infrastructure upgrades, waste management, recycling of plastic and fishing nets, and capacity building to enhance efficiency and sustainability. This initiative aligns with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's vision for world-class fisheries infrastructure and community welfare.
