
Nominated Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty advocated for making counsellors mandatory in schools to support children who have faced sexual offences during a discussion on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Amendment) Bill, 2024. She suggested cancelling the registration of schools lacking counsellors and emphasized the need for adequate counsellor-to-student ratios. Murty also highlighted the importance of sensitizing parents and incorporating the POCSO Act into teacher education to better address such issues.
