The Union government supports Andhra Pradesh's push for Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models to build new medical colleges, as indicated by Union Minister J.P. Nadda. Nadda stated that PPPs can improve healthcare access and resource utilization, highlighting central government financial support schemes like Viability Gap Funding. This initiative faces opposition from the YSRCP, led by former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, who fears it will lead to the privatization of government medical colleges. The YSRCP has launched signature campaigns against the proposal.
