Three major flyover and bridge projects in Mumbai have seen a combined cost increase of 66.3% within months, rising from Rs 4,013 crore to Rs 6,675 crore, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's 2026-27 budget. Two projects recorded nearly 90% escalation, including an 850-metre cable-stayed flyover in Byculla rising 94% to Rs 1,561 crore, and a 4.24-km flyover in Kurla-Ghatkopar increasing 93%. The BMC attributed the rises to design changes, physical contingencies, GST, and expanded project scopes.
