The Delhi High Court has directed the Directorate of Education to ensure the formation and functioning of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all private schools, including unrecognised ones, across the capital. A PIL by NGO Justice for All highlighted that around 170 private schools have not constituted PTAs as mandated by the Delhi School Education Act and related guidelines. The court sought a response on steps taken so far and ordered immediate action to address non-compliance. The PTA's role, reinforced by the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Act, 2025, includes representing parents in fee regulation matters, but many schools have either not formed PTAs or created ineffective bodies with handpicked members, limiting parental participation and accountability.
