The Tipra Motha Party (TMP) in Tripura has urged the central government to enact a comprehensive anti-racial discrimination law following the killing of Anjel Chakma, a student from Tripura. TMP leaders stated that a dedicated legal framework is needed to protect people from the Northeast facing racism and violence. They criticized the Uttarakhand government and police for alleged delays in action and demanded the invocation of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act in Chakma's case, who was reportedly subjected to racial slurs before his death.
