Punjab CM Inaugurates Reconstruction of Ferozepur Feeder Canal to Boost Irrigation

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the first phase of the Rs 180 crore reconstruction and relining of the Ferozepur Feeder Canal, increasing its capacity from 11,192 to 13,873 cusecs. The project, benefiting four districts in the Malwa region, aims to expand irrigation coverage from 21% to 68% of Punjab's fields, targeting 85% by the next paddy season. Mann emphasized the state's priority on water retention, rejecting surplus water sharing with other states and highlighting past governments' inaction on canal upgrades.
