In December 2025, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado escaped Venezuela in a high-risk operation led by a US-based team called Grey Bull Rescue. The mission, known as Operation Golden Dynamite, involved navigating boats through challenging seas near Curacao to transfer Machado to safety. She was en route to Norway to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for her opposition to then-leader Nicolás Maduro. Video and audio footage of the escape have been released, showing tense moments during the exfiltration.
