Maharashtra Advances Key Road and Rail Projects to Improve Connectivity

Maharashtra is advancing major infrastructure projects to improve regional connectivity and reduce congestion. The MMRDA approved a ₹6,748 crore elevated highway linking Thane to the Samruddhi Expressway to ease traffic bottlenecks. The Mumbai-Pune Expressway's Missing Link is 98% complete, expected to open by May 1, shortening travel time by over six kilometers. Additionally, the Panvel-Karjat suburban rail corridor has reached 85% completion, aiming for a July 2026 opening to enhance suburban rail capacity and reduce congestion on existing lines.
