
A Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court sentenced 47 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and supporters to 10 years in prison and fined each PKR 5,00,000 in absentia for their roles in vandalism and violence during the May 9, 2023 protests following former Prime Minister Imran Khan's arrest. Charges include arson, attacks on police, and damage to military and government properties, including the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The court also ordered confiscation of their properties, with additional imprisonment if fines remain unpaid.
