The Punjab government has ordered the 'deemed resignation' of four taxation department employees, including three inspectors and one clerk, for remaining on unauthorized leave for over a year. This action, taken under Rule 8 of the Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970, follows a rigorous inquiry and multiple notices. Officials stated that employees absent without sanctioned leave for over a year are treated as having resigned and are not entitled to service benefits. Minister Harpal Singh Cheema emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline and dereliction of duty.
