Justice A.H.M.D. Nawaz, a sitting Supreme Court judge of Sri Lanka, has petitioned the Karnataka High Court seeking removal of online links to alleged defamatory news reports published in 2015 and 2020 by Sri Lankan outlets Colombo Telegraph and Lankaenews. The petition claims these articles have damaged his international reputation and remain accessible via Google India, whose headquarters are in Bengaluru. The court has issued notices to the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Google India, and scheduled further hearing for March 16, directing Nawaz to notify the Sri Lankan websites by email.
