
Senior IPS officer Rakesh Aggarwal, a 1994 batch officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been appointed Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) until August 31, 2028, the date of his superannuation. Previously serving as special director general and interim chief following the premature repatriation of former DG Sadanand Vasant Date, Aggarwal is recognized for his expertise in counter-terrorism and investigative work. The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet and formalized by the Ministry of Personnel.
