The Congress party announced nationwide protests against the new Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, which replaces the MGNREGA. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge accused Prime Minister Modi of single-handedly destroying MGNREGA, likening the current protests to those against the farm laws. Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan countered, calling Congress's stance political posturing and accusing them of shedding 'crocodile tears' and previously undermining MGNREGA. He stated the new act promotes technology, transparency, and timely payments for rural employment.
