Reports indicate that Chinese-made HQ-9B missile systems and JY-27A radars used by Pakistan, Venezuela, and Iran have underperformed in recent conflicts. During India's Operation Sindoor in May 2023, these systems reportedly failed to intercept Indian strikes over four days. Similar shortcomings were noted during US operations in Venezuela and Iran. Analysts highlight concerns about the systems' effectiveness despite their prominent display in military parades, contrasting with India's use of advanced air-defence technologies.
