The Punjab and Haryana High Court will consider on February 23 a petition to protect 845 kanals of Central Government land in Pathankot's Chak Kaushalya village near the India-Pakistan border. The land, under BSF control and located in an eco-sensitive Ravi riverbed area, is allegedly illegally occupied by relatives of senior police officers and influential persons, with claims of collusion involving settlement officials and mining operators. The court has sought a detailed response from the Pathankot Deputy Commissioner regarding illegal mining and encroachment.
