Karnataka Proposes ₹600 Crore for Training Centres Amid Federation's Funding Concerns

The Karnataka government proposed allocating ₹600 crore from the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to establish 10 Government Tool Room Training Centres (GTTC) aimed at educating children of construction workers. While the government views this as a skill development initiative, the Dakshina Kannada unit of the Construction Workers Federation opposes using welfare funds for these centres, arguing that such projects should be government-funded and accessible to all, not just construction workers' families.
