At least three elderly individuals in West Bengal have died in connection with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. An 82-year-old man in Purulia died by suicide hours before a hearing, with his family citing anxiety over his name missing from the draft list. Two other deaths, one from cardiac arrest and another shortly after receiving a notice, have also been linked by families to stress from the SIR process. Authorities are conducting inquiries into these incidents.
