Lokayukta Police Raid Bhopal Municipal Corporation; Finance Chief Removed Amid Corruption Probe

The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta police conducted their third major raid in five years on the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), seizing financial records spanning nearly a decade amid allegations of a multi-crore scam. An FIR was filed against Additional Commissioner Gunwant Sevatkar, who was removed from his finance duties by BMC Commissioner Sanskriti Jain to ensure transparency during the ongoing probe. Sevatkar denied sole responsibility, noting invoice approvals by the former commissioner. The investigation may expand to other officials involved in financial roles over the past ten years.
