
Following a distress call from the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena, which sank in the Indian Ocean after reportedly being struck by a US torpedo on March 4, the Indian Navy launched search and rescue operations. It deployed a long-range maritime patrol aircraft and two vessels—INS Tarangini, a sail training ship nearby, and INS Ikshak, a hydrographic survey vessel from Kochi—to assist the Sri Lankan-led rescue efforts and search for missing personnel.
