
Dr. K. Laxmi Narayan Rao, a 1992-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the in-charge Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police for Gujarat. He currently heads CID Crime and holds additional charges for Prisons and Correctional Administration. Rao, who is slated to retire in 2027, is considered a frontrunner for the full-time position, succeeding Vikas Sahay who retired on Wednesday. Sahay, like his predecessors, had received an extension in service.
