
Gujarat registered 629 cases of alleged cow smuggling and illegal beef transportation over two years, resulting in 1,810 arrests and the rescue of 1,800 cows, the state government informed the Legislative Assembly. Authorities seized 54,000 kg of beef, confiscated 433 vehicles, and demolished 39 properties linked to accused individuals. In Amreli district, 21 convictions included life sentences and fines totaling over Rs 42 lakh. The government emphasized a zero-tolerance approach and ongoing enforcement efforts across the state.
