CBI Summons TVK Chief Vijay Again in Karur Stampede Investigation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay for a second round of questioning on January 19 regarding the Karur stampede on September 27, 2025. The stampede at a TVK rally resulted in 41 deaths and numerous injuries. Vijay was first questioned for several hours about event permissions, crowd management, and his delayed arrival. The CBI probe, ordered by the Supreme Court, follows concerns over the adequacy of arrangements and crowd size exceeding permitted limits. TVK denies responsibility for the tragedy, while the Tamil Nadu government has sought to continue the investigation under the state police's special team.
