The house of Vadakara block panchayat member Rajani Thekke Thayyil was allegedly attacked by a group identified as Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers on Sunday. An unexploded steel bomb was found at the scene. Police registered a case, investigating an incident reportedly linked to Thayyil's accidental vote for a UDF candidate, which helped the UDF gain control of the panchayat after an election tie. Thayyil, an RJD activist running under LDF, faces a six-month suspension.
