The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are in a political dispute over toll plazas in Delhi, which AAP claims are pollution hotspots contributing to the city's air quality crisis. AAP alleges the BJP-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is ignoring Supreme Court directives to suspend toll collection during high pollution periods. The Delhi Mayor, however, stated the Supreme Court asked the MCD to 'consider' suspending tolls, not to issue a direct order, and highlighted the ongoing upgrade to ANPR technology to reduce queues and emissions.
