A team of ten trainee IAS officers from Mussoorie's Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration visited Jharia mine fire areas in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The officers observed opencast and underground coal mining operations and assessed facilities at Belagadia Township, built for families displaced by mine fires. They also met with local officials, including the Dhanbad deputy commissioner, as part of their winter study tour.
