Government Issues Notices to Edible Oil Firms for Non-Compliance with Mandatory Reporting

The Department of Food and Public Distribution has issued show-cause notices to several major edible oil companies for failing to submit mandatory monthly production and stock returns under the Vegetable Oil Products, Production and Availability (VOPPA) Order, 2025. Despite repeated reminders, these companies have not complied with registration and reporting requirements mandated to enhance regulatory oversight. The department warned that non-compliance may lead to inspections and confiscation under the Essential Commodities Act, with companies given seven days to respond.
