
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has filed nomination papers to contest the upcoming February 12, 2026, parliamentary elections from the Dhaka-17 constituency. Rahman, son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, returned to Bangladesh on December 25 after 17 years in exile. His nomination papers were submitted by party officials on his behalf on Monday, the final day for submissions. Rahman has also indicated plans to contest from the Bogra-6 constituency. His return and candidacy are seen as significant developments in the country's political landscape.
