The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to deny election tickets to immediate relatives of its sitting ministers, MPs, and MLAs in Maharashtra. This move aims to counter accusations of "dynasty politics" (Parivarvad) and promote grassroots workers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has frequently criticized dynastic politics, advocating for the inclusion of young talent. While the BJP seeks to present itself as an alternative, it has also faced accusations of promoting family members. This policy is expected to be implemented starting with Maharashtra's local body elections.
