The Punjab government has introduced a new reward policy to encourage public cooperation in arresting gangsters and wanted criminals. The policy allows field officers and police heads to sanction monetary rewards up to Rs 2 lakh or more based on the offence's severity, risk, and information quality. It also includes police personnel involved in exceptional operations. Informers' identities will be protected, and a transparent recommendation process is established. This initiative supports the 'Gangstran Te Vaar' campaign to reduce crime in Punjab.
