Anindita Mitra Appointed as Punjab Chief Electoral Officer by Election Commission

The Election Commission of India appointed Anindita Mitra, a 2007 batch IAS officer, as the new Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab, replacing Sibin C, who is moving to central deputation. The Punjab government had submitted a panel of three IAS officers for the role. Mitra, who secured All India Rank 8 in the 2006 UPSC exam, has held key positions including Municipal Commissioner of Chandigarh and currently serves as Administrative Secretary for Higher Education and Languages in Punjab.
