Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid foundation stones for India's first inland river lighthouses along the Brahmaputra in Assam, at four strategic sites: Bogibeel, Pandu, Silghat, and Biswanath Ghat. The Rs 84 crore project includes 20-metre solar-powered lighthouses with a 14 nautical mile range, complemented by museums and public amenities. This initiative aims to enhance navigation on National Waterway-2, supporting a 53% surge in cargo movement and promoting freight, passenger, and tourism activities in the region.
