The Centre has granted sanction to prosecute retired IAS officer Vijay Kumar Janjua, former Punjab chief secretary, in a 2009 corruption case involving alleged bribery for land allotment. The case originated from a complaint by industrialist Tulsi Ram Mishra, who accused Janjua of demanding a bribe to process adjoining land allotment. Janjua was initially sanctioned for prosecution by the Punjab governor in 2010 but discharged by a trial court citing jurisdiction issues. The Centre's recent order follows judicial directives and legal proceedings spanning over a decade.
